So the warning about bans specifically mentioned cash trades. I seriously hope they are targeting more then just the players doing cash trades. Would love to see an end put to the sub accounts being used for free RES. It really "erks" me when I am running for L using RES then others just create new account for free 169 PS + BE and ammo

They should send a message with Deadeye Doug saying "BOOM, HEADSHOT" when the hammer falls.

Very true Art. There's the ethical use for storage, and the less than ethical behaviors. Can even see someone using other accounts to test squads, level mercs, more daily trades, etc; but the criminals are in this activity as elsewhere.

Wishing you the best on your L endeavors (unless you are my best option of 3 opponents - then the gloves are off, and I'll probably be seeking bandages and aloe vera). Very Happy

Wow, you get banned for selling mercs. What happens if you decide to quit and cant play anymore, all that money just goes to waste that you put into your squad? Why the hell would anyone spend real money on anything then

Yeah they pretty much want you to waste an entiire week from waking up to going to bed just blowing res, for something you cant ever sell. Waste of time, idk im all about making a profit on everything, this just seems stupid to me. Guess i wont be cashing out on telepaths ever lol

well I think its unfair, on selling mercs . If they can manipulate the proc rate on mercs, during events it saying its ok if we cheat you guys but its not ok to sell mercs.

Honestly I wouldn't be the least bit suprised to find out this was nothing more than that notice...

please don't ban me for saying that lol

In the use agreement it prohibits botting, hacking, or creating an account with the intent of another person using it... Interesting

I guess I don't see how they could police it. Trade negotiations and money transactions happen outside of the app; how do they differentiate from two players gifting? Even if one of the merchants or buyers betrays the trust of the other and sends receipts of the transaction to Dakota, it's a lot of hassle for them to prove the validity of each case.

Also, I can understand they're doing this to ensure they make more money in the long run, but I'm not sure I see why it's logically reasonable. Players pay money or invest huge amounts of time to earn digital content; why can't they in turn sell off some of the their content to another player? Reminds me of the marketplace in Diablo 2 vs. Diablo 3.

Well paint, out of curiosity just checked the terms of use (it says last updated on Sep 19 2013) and under User Conduct section, there are lots of prohibitions listed. Don't know if they were there before.

We'll see what they will or will not do as you say.

I hope they put an end to people botting with multiple accounts and then use the free res they get from there to rank high at the events and get lethals.

Well if you can't sell the mercs you worked and spent to get you should just change the name from Fatal Frontier to Herpies cause you gotta keep em till you die lol

I mean i get why they are doing it BUT changes should only affect the "bad guys". I know it doesn't ever work out that way cause good people will get screwed. Its life.

well they need to be specific on certain things storage accounts, leveling accounts, or loaner mercs. I mean if someone wants to let someone barrow a merc there should be no problem with that. Storage accounts if not used in any event but to level etc stuff like that they need to be more specific.

I think, if there's a need for it, loaning could be implemented in the game.

The owner can select the person to send and the duration and when that loan timer is up, the merc is automatically returned to the owner.

Would it be against their rules to make another account just to put mercs in as I'm tired of posting offers over and over again just so they wouldn't get removed out of Social box .. I just checked Blood Brothers after 2 months not going online, my Social box which held about 60 mercs is completely empty ..

I am also tired with the posting offers over and over thing. I think the 30 days limit should at least be 60 days on Social tab and no limit on the General tab where the mercs you buy with mobacoins are stored.

Lost many mercs when I forgot to check and post offers during events.

I don't understand why retiring players cannot sell their mercs. It would make sense if Dakota had some sort of buyback and redistribute plan for old mercs, but if they don't stand to make money either way, why do they care if some else does? Why should the Jackson Omegas and Hellcats of the world sit on unused accounts?

Side note: I seem to remember one of the big MMO publishers suing one of their players for selling their account. They won due to something with copyright law. Like because the armor/weapons/characters are all copyrighted, the user has no right to profit from the sale.

I think Dakota is just feeling the crunch financially
after stepping back from competitive playing I see that only about 40 or less people playing competitively on top, no wonder they narrowed the range for L rewards, take this event for example, I am not even trying and I'm hovering around rank 60 if L is rewarded out to top 50 it would just be too easy. and even the top 30 players, how many are actually spending money to be up there?

I don't know why anyone is surprised at this. I would like to see you guys find 1 online game where selling items for money outside any official channels to do so is allowed. I have never heard of any game that allows it.

It's a good time to remind everyone to check themselves before they wreck themselves. If you don't want to read all the find print, you can find a word for word copy of the TOS stating what you can and cannot do with your in game profiles on my post about the money trades in the suggestions forum.

For one, technically I think using the json is a bannable offence, for accessing non public areas in the program

The areas that I copied and pasted were just what particularly applied to what this warning is dealing with. I was never intending to copy and paste the entire TOS.

And as far as the JSON goes, that is why they have the clause about "except for resources or access administered by Dakota."

We aren't hacking into the JSON, it is tool they have given us to help keep the supplementary sites like the wiki and forum updated and accurate. They aren't stupid, they aren't going to ban the people that create the community game resources and provide support for their game.

Idk the way theyv been yanking our chain with it so heavily leads me to think they don't want us in there, giving an unfair advantage over anyone who can't see it. At least during the event.

Just my thoughts tho

Eh, its public info. There is nothing on the JSON that isn't on the wiki. And legend could give you more information than me, but I remember him saying something about how the devs specificially gave us access to this json to prevent people from having to hack their way around to get information on mercs. Imagine if the only way to update the wiki with correct info was to have people actually make the mercs?

I nominate you to give me the PE stats on a fug bug mite Smile

Its sort of the way of the world, as technology changes and evolves commodities so to then the law changes and evolves with it. Sure you buy a car, you can turn around and sell that car as you see fit at whatever price you find a buyer willing to pay for it because its a physical commodity. But technology has graced us with this wonderful new commodity - digital products. Theyre intangible and especially in this case they straddle the doorstep of ownership, you have paid money to use such and such item but it exists on a plane created, maintained and supported by Dakota. Without that plane your item youve paid the rights to use does not exist. So it seems like the term buying may not be technically correct in this arena. Maybe the terming leasing should be used instead or another new term altogether. Then again who wants to lease 100 mobacoin much less buy it??
